Incubi Nights

Incubi Nights

A Poem by Riverdance

In darkened hours of the night

Dreams unfurl their beauty

Everything is perfect

Or so the story goes

If everything at night is right

Then why do nightmares grow?

How come they push out all that's good

And frighten away what you once had?

I once had had my heart

Chained firmly to my soul

But now the leash has broken

And my heart has gone astray

Now I feel I'm drowning

In a puddle of hidden hate

But turning your back

On the back-turned world

Won't lead you past the pain

Only time will help you regain

Acceptance from the blinded past

Oh! rescue me now dear friend

Help me to print the bright signs

I've already lost my willing heart

And now...

My soul is tugging too!
