Prologue

A Chapter by Luix Rives

"Reporting live on the cross streets of Craig and Rainbow inside the usual quiet neighborhood of Bel Lago. It is still unknown exactly what happened but details coming in explain a house was on fire and when local authorities were contacted they found some interesting things inside."

Pictures of the house appeared on the screen with no apparent damage except the roof.

"At first glance, the house appears normal but what authorities found inside were disturbing. It was determined to be a front for a number of activities, some to include illegal animal fights. Police are still investigating and more information will be provided as soon as it comes."

The screen goes back to the studio.

"Now Mark, did they say what caused the fire?"

"Not yet, but there are unconfirmed reports that the fire itself was used to expose the house. Authorities responded right away and learned of the events on sight." There was a moment silence as Mark was receiving new information."I just received new information. It appears there were a number of loud disturbances prior to the fire. Also police have confirmed a number of people were tied together in the backyard, their involvement in this is still unclear but police are now questioning them."

"Any idea how they got back there?"

"No James, that is still unknown."

The reporter didn’t need to say who it was. Anybody who’s been listening or watching the news the past couple of weeks already know who was involved. There is no official name for him, no call sign, and no special signal. The only name referred to this person was dubbed by the public as the unknown. The unknown was something special, coming out months ago and stopping crime around the city. They call him the unknown because of the lack of information that is always involved in his reports. There is no evidence or recorded sightings of the individual only the fact that something is happening in unspecific areas and an effort is being made to deal with the crime in Las Vegas. He has become an inspiration to most people including myself.

My name is Gabriel Luis; I am sixteen and am a big fan of the unknown ever since his first report. I have always been into heroes, taking down the bad guys, choosing light over dark, bringing those to justice. It was the reason I wanted to join Martial Arts. The one thing about any hero is they all know how to fight. So if I wanted to be a hero I needed to learn how to fight. My father found a studio and since then I've been attending. That's when I was younger and as I got older I still have a belief in heroes and their ways but instead of being like them I focus more on being a hero for the studio. I can never do what the unknown does but I can do what I believe is right or so I thought.

I always heard the expression it’s a small world but never took into light how much things can be intertwined with each other until now. My world instantly changed and the views I had with it. This is my story, it started with a simple dance and ended with me becoming something I never imagined I would be but had dreamt about my entire life. I wanted to be hero but what I became was an unknown.
