Impatient StormA Poem by RiverOfSilverHappy Birthday, Dad. (3/25/09)An impatient young child paces back and forth 'cross the floor as she watches and waits and watches and waits.
A quick glance at the clock, another glance towards the door, and one more glance at the clock, until the door creaks, and a booming laugh, a laugh like thunder, shakes the house like a leaf in a storm.
An impatient young child stops dead in her tracks, and whips her head up, her blonde curls flying past her pale face. A smile, bright as lightning streaking 'cross the stormy heavens lights up her face as the impatient young child races towards the laughter like thunder.
In the blink of an eye, she is swept up, spun around in strong, warm arms.
Adding her pealing, bell-like laughter to the laughter like thunder, she embraces the giant in front of her, and just one simple thing crosses her lips:
"Welcome home, Papa."
