Rain

Rain

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

"

It started raining pennies,

then nickels joined the pour;

dimes descended from the clouds

and quarters hit the floor

The coins, they knocked unconscious
the folks who stormed outside,
clutching pots and pitchers
all full of selfish pride

And when the sun came out again,
the coins evaporated
before those greedy souls could fill
their vessels up to sated

So, content we'll have to be
with simple water rains;
they sparkle just as readily
and humble Nature gains

...and during a drought?

Its often said just how little a penny is worth - but someone ALWAYS picks them up ...go figure.

Greed lead to no-where. Better to find the beauty in the value of a new day and laughter. Thank you Rita for sharing the excellent poetry.

Girl, times are so hard right now it could rain one penny and I'd fight you for it, since the 5 dozen box of eggs I use to by for $6 is now $15. However, your message to live simply shines through. Thanks and wonderful write!

A very cute poem with a strong message... the things we truly need are the things that fills our soul not our wallets.

And yet we so rarely seek what fills the soul... Thanks, Dale.
IF it started raining coins, I'm sure I'd be out there with the rest, holding my biggest pot.

Lol! I would likely grab a bucket too... ;)
To me this is a tale that warns of the high possibility of another credit crunch as people start to behave just as they did when the worlds banks were almost brought to their knees - some actually went under but the big ones got given carte blanche to start their shenanigans again because they have been told they wont be allowed to fail.
A cautionary tale well told Rita.

The big boys always get their fill, don't they? Thanks, Anto.
i like simple...and love this poem...

humility and meekness will not get us knocked out....

selfish pride will!

Well said, Rita.
