Sad, Sad Deirdre Jane

Sad, Sad Deirdre Jane

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

Deirdre Jane laughs all the time

She always has a joke

But shadows lurk within her soul,

Unseen to many folk

Those who know her often note

Her smile, sunshine-warm

But never see behind closed doors

The harbored, black-cloud storm

If you are friends with Deirdre Jane

Look past her proud veneer

Remember that things rarely are

As we wish them to appear

I think a lot of us are, Mark... Thanks.
There are many who have the ability to wear a smile while feeling great pain. We often have no idea what a person is really feeling "inside", even when we ask, "How are you?" it is too often just a question of courtesy and if the person would answer how they really are, would we want to listen? I know........oh, how I know!
A wise, insightful write once again!!!
Just out of curiosity, why the name, "Deirdre Jane"?

This is spot on Rita!! Some of us are good at pinning that smile on and marching forward when really we are suffering inside. They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The same is true of people...the ones complaining the loudest get more attention then the ones who try to be strong.

Yes it can...I know all too well. Youre welcome Rita..
Some people wear a smiling mask to hide the pain they feel… if I didn't know any better I would say this poem is in relation to The Robin Williams situation.
