Grasping Twilight

Grasping Twilight

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

***

"

This morning I was six years old,

       to misery immune

but as each moment came to pass,

       I’d grown by afternoon

now as dusk descends her veil

       I day-dream in the twilight,

while grasping sun and clouds

and stars…

       how old I’ll be tonight

"each moment came to pass,

A wonderful poem Rita about the awareness of time and aging with great natural imagery. It makes me think if we are immune from its misery or not. Excellent...:)...................

Yep. You are welcome...:)...........................
A good read for those of us who have had to grow up faster than we should have due to circumstances beyond our control. One day I was 7, now 34 years later I am old. Thanks!!!

Thank you, Sasha - glad you enjoyed.
A perfect poem in such a few lines Rita, I thoroughly enjoyed this one, reminded me of the "Ephemera Danica" or the mayfly... just to live and grow old in one day. Fantastic.

Aging is not that bad, makes us grow wiser with each passing day

Rita!
What a wonderful piece!

There is some much here in such a short piece. Time marching by one step at a time in its uncontrollable manner, we do anything we can to hold on to one more tick of the clock. I adore this!

I really like the metaphor here... life in a day! We should all live as if this were true... Very beautiful, Rita!

It moves so quickly... Thank you, J.K.
Twilight of the day is one of my favorite times as the world seems to smooth out at the rough edges with a subtle glow flowing 'cross the land.
I can just imagine looking at all the stars and wondering what is next.....lovely thoughts!
