As a girl I had great objection

To my Barbie doll’s girly perfection

When it seemed very plain

That she hadn’t a brain

I ditched the whole plastic collection

Man I loved Barbie. She kept my G.I Joe happy. I don't get the whole Barbie controversy. Toys are about fantasy and roll playing not realism, at least they are for everyone I know. I would want to be Batman if he had a gut and no muscles, lol.

You make a good point about toys, and that is certainly as it should be. I just never got into Barbies as a kid, and really did make fun of the fact that her head was empty... Must have had some impact on me! :)

I grew up with two brothers and no Barbies.
I never owned one. So glad too. My daughter has a few though...
But they're astronaut Barbie, dentist Barbie, doctor Barbie. :-)

Media seems to grow more corrupt and corrupt each day. There are fewer people that seem to truly appreciate stuff outside of which concerns popularity, fame and fortune. The barbie doll is a paragon of such phenomenon. Yes, they are pretty, but inside they nothing but pure vacancy. A delight to read. Thank you.

The mark of the TV and media. Men support to strong and woman support to be willing and kind. I had six real sisters. No barbie dolls in this bunch. I taught my daughters. Be what you want to be. I believe the best wisdom is for my daughters was. "Always support yourself. Never depend on a man. You need your own income and freedom. You are not a slave." I'm glad you tossed away the barbie dolls. I wasn't so bright. Joined wars like father and I learn should of stayed home and saved for retirement. Thank you for the excellent poetry. LOL … I actually loved my barbie collection, but then that was because she had a better wardrobe. The point here is well-taken, however, we have a tendency to place a lot of value on what's on the outside and miss entirely what is going on underneath.
