Best Friend

If I could make my own best friend,

I’d mold her out of clay

She would bring out the best in me,

And lead me not astray

She’d never make petty demands,

Or shame me to contrition;

Her heart would beat in time with mine

And love, without condition

No matter what life had in store

She’d always sympathize

And see me as I truly am,

Without judgmental eyes

She’d celebrate the joys of life

And lift depression’s fog ~

I just realized, I have this friend ~

I’ve just described my dog!  J

I think this is the most touching tribute to a pet that I've ever read...not much I can say in response really, it's all in the poem...if we devoted as much to each other as our dogs devote to us, the world would be a lot better place...I've always admired the way you look at the world my friend...well done :)
