Barbs

Barbs

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

"

The battle ground so long ago

was rife with sticks and stones they’d throw

let them strike, avoid the fray;

it only made for easier prey

discovered these arrows in my quiver ~

sharp-barbed words would soon deliver

in time, I learned these weapons sting

it’s clear the depth of harm they bring

now backbone has become my shield;

be careful with the words you wield

Thank you, Red
Words can speak louder than anything sometimes. People say actions speak louder than words but sometimes it can be the total opposite. I loved the message Rita!

This poem has such a great message. Words do hurt more than swords, and I believe you've captured the essence of this message wonderfully. So masterfully penned. Wow!

This is by far my fave of everything I have read of yours. Words. They never go away.

Thank you, Xavier.
A misplaced word is like psychic shrapnel that can never be removed. Powerful message in this one Rita.
