Gravity

Gravity

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

A poem fell

in the world today,

       it didn’t make a sound

Its gentle wisdom

touched no one,

       for no one was around

Its imagery and metaphor,

its meter and its tone ~

       they lifted no one’s spirit,

       for that poem was alone

When an earnest lyric echoes ~

into the blankness calls ~

gravity gains victory

       each time a poem falls.

What an abstract and creative concept. I would almost assume that it would be fragile, but for some reason I believe that poems are resilient and can persevere.

Yes, poems are resilient - and with luck, so are poets. :) Thank you for your insights, Xavier.
This poem has a lovely metre, and amazingly flow. The poem itself is beautiful. Thank you for making me happier tonight, Rita.

Jeez, this one makes me ache a little. I have many unread little poems. I know how they feel now.

Let them see the light of day, Tammy... :)
I like how you put this Rita, I think each one of our words should fall in a linger of breeze and find their own way home and that they do:)

Wow I need to wake up lol, I cant help it that's how I truly feel:) Your welcome:)
I know I've had some poems that I thought would move people and would never get a response. Then some I'm not sure about get all the attention. The world of poetry is a crazy one. That is why I love it.

Thank you, Lucky.
Excellent poem and a great concept for writing this. I gave up on the study of meter and any elements of poetry being there doesn't seem to be enough here that would recognize it or care. Great job of writing this.

You're welcome Rita.
such a tragedy that a poem should fall on barren ground where it can't be admired....
