Gravity

Gravity

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

A poem fell

in the world today,

       it didn’t make a sound

Its gentle wisdom

touched no one,

       for no one was around

Its imagery and metaphor,

its meter and its tone ~

       they lifted no one’s spirit,

       for that poem was alone

When an earnest lyric echoes ~

into the blankness calls ~

gravity gains victory

       each time a poem falls.

This is brilliantly layered, Rita. What are words that reach no one. This is one to teach a class on!

Thank you, Cycy!
Rita,
I like the relationship between gravity and poetry--that gravity is a force that is more than physics--it gives us poetry. Wonderful.

I have always believed that poems are much more resilient than most poets, however a fragile poet can change it or delete it upon any criticism. So poems can't truly be stronger than their creator. Okay, done babbling...this poem is well structured and amazingly unique. Excellent write.
