Gravity

Gravity

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

A poem fell

in the world today,

       it didn’t make a sound

Its gentle wisdom

touched no one,

       for no one was around

Its imagery and metaphor,

its meter and its tone ~

       they lifted no one’s spirit,

       for that poem was alone

When an earnest lyric echoes ~

into the blankness calls ~

gravity gains victory

       each time a poem falls.

ahh, Rita...your gentle wisdom always touches me, and I always come away from your writing feeling refreshed in both mind and spirit. Gravity seems to have no power over your gifted pen...

Thank you so much, Angel... Trying to combat gravity this winter...
If a poem falls it certainly makes a sad impact since it's always full of emotion and sentiment, if one reads the intended words or not....unlike that tree in the forest~ always food for thought in your brilliant pen Rita!

No problem ... Had a reread; still just as wowed.
Doesn't a poem make a sound even if no one hears it?

Only the echo in the poet's heart...
Our words, our poetry shouldn't be ignored. They should be cherished because they are apart of us. Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for reading, Shaquana!
Theres many poems on here that receive little or no attention...not to mention those that pen them. Sad that those words just sit there waiting to be discovered. Great write here Rita!

Ah, Mama Poem, crying for her fallen lyric... Thank you for that, A!
it is so sad when poems are ignored...nobody hears them fall...nobody reads them...they make no sound in the minds of readers who really lose out when they don't listen.

i also like the double meaning of gravity...it falls but also often has such heavy meaning.
