Gravity

Gravity

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

A poem fell

in the world today,

       it didn’t make a sound

Its gentle wisdom

touched no one,

       for no one was around

Its imagery and metaphor,

its meter and its tone ~

       they lifted no one’s spirit,

       for that poem was alone

When an earnest lyric echoes ~

into the blankness calls ~

gravity gains victory

       each time a poem falls.

Thank you, Manal!
This is an amazing poem. So simple in length, yet so complex in meaning. Those kinds of poems are so overlooked and taken for granted. Often times they are missed. I loved it! The ending really pounded it all in and brought in the significance. Great job. It really touches the heart, soul, and mind.

Hmmm, haven't seen this idea anywhere before. I guess a poem's worth is how much it is able to "touch" someone so a poem falling unheard is pretty sad. This was very well conceived and nicely executed. Your lines are expertly weighted so it reads very smoothly, I have always been awed at how you seem to do this...almost effortlessly. I like.

...Of course...
Very interesting point of view but my first thought was how come it didn't move the one writing it in any significant way?

Thank you, Tia!
Reminds me of a few sayings that are more humorous in tone than this poem. Love the message. We, poetry, each individual have so much to offer - it's a shame when no one is around to listen, or willing to hear us out. Nice penning, Rita.

I see a lot of my friends here... and I usually like what they like... we all kind gravitate toward one another and most of us are wide open to new styles and formats. This was really good! I'm looking forward to reading more of your work. Unlike some people I don't mind getting read requests so send'em if ya got'em! Sometimes I don't have time to write but I have time for a quick read and a pick me up! Look forward to 'seeing you around'. :)
