Upon the gift

of nectar’d wine

I held tight to the glass

 

I sipped and savored slowly;

I knew it wouldn’t last

 

Now there is but one taste left

to sweeten this amen

And at the dawn of midnight

my glass will fill again

Your use of the apostrophe to shorten words reminds me of the masters. There are some subtle dynamism to this poem that I enjoy. I liked "To sweeten this amen" and "at the dawn of midnight". I enjoy your writing Rita

Ah the sweet wine that relaxes the soul.....I enjoyed this piece. An ending and a beginning....this is what I interpreted from this poem....and I love the line "of nectar'd wine".......
