Innkeeper

Innkeeper

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

Bethlehem had filled up fast

before that night’s full moon;

how was I to know the world

would change so much, so soon?

By the time the weary pair arrived

the sky was dark and clear;

my inn had no more vacancies,

her time was drawing near

I led them to a clean, warm cave,

the best that I could do

and when I heard the Baby’s cry

a star came into view

Shepherds came, and wise men too,

then angels heard on high;

a royal welcome for the King

who in a manger lie

I spoke the words regrettably,

“There’s no room in the inn”

but only in humility

salvation could begin.

Well, that I like... Thank you! *blush* :)
The Innkeeper really missed his oppurtunity to serve and make room for this desperate couple . He didn't tried hard enough to make accomodation for them . Its really tells about the true heart of aperson . A good and kind heart would be sensitive to the needs and plight of others . There's an old Jewish customs back in the old days to always welcome visitors and strangers into your home when they presented themselves at your doorstep . Of course we don't do that now for safety and security reason . But in the ancient of days it's a customary traditions . Well aware that some of them had entertained angels and God's messangers disguise as man . So they did maintained a hospitable heart opened for strangers who needs rest and refreshments . It's obvious that the inkeeper was nonchalant about his customers plight . Had he known it was God's Son . The creator of the universe he could have done something for this desperate family . It sure tell us a sad but true story when we are lost and selfish . We missed the greatest oppurtunity in our lifetime . What a contrasting story of the women who broke her alabaster perfume and poured it all on the Savior . WStable was all he could afford for the King of kings and Lord of lords . Fellow writers and poets . Do you have a room for Jesus in your heart ? Let us not put a No Vacancy sign ....
What an awesome piece Ms Rita . The timing is so perfect for our Lord's birthday . Praise God for this piece .

A good story is a good story - with a moral message and all... Thanks, Doc!
I always thought the innkeeper did a wonderful thing for the Holy Family...
Even if he didn't have room, he did what he could.

I don't know how much of the story is truth, but I like the message of humility... Thanks, Jacob.
