Holiday Programming

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

When we were young, we searched for the meaning

To TV’s wisdom we seemed to be leaning

Charlie Brown thought Christmas had gone too commercial;

His protests became quite controversial

Rudolph was being bullied and teased,

Ebenezer Scrooge was always displeased

Frosty dealt with his melting plight

Snow & Heat Misers argued outright

These are some memories of our Christmases past

Why do these stories continue to last?

It must be that each hero discovers a reason

To be thankful and joyful each holiday season

I hope you don’t need a cartoon special feature

To be your Christmas Spirit teacher

Turn off the TV, open your heart and mind

May this be the year you seek and you find

Several years ago, I stopped buying Christmas cards, and started to write my own holiday greeting. This was the poem I sent to everyone a few years ago.

I would have loved to have received this as a Christmas card … but I am not giving up Charlie Brown. LOL.

LOL! I figured, I can come up with something at least as good as Hallmark... :) Thanks, Pryde!
Everyone has to search and find relevance and meanings in their holiday to their lives and you have done that. Some people want it simple and some want it extravagant... A wonderful write...:)................

As long as we seek, we can find it in many places... Thanks, Sami!

Yep. You are welcome...:).................
The Mr Grinch theme song was brilliant. A Charlie Brown Christmas is beyond classic and who could ever forget the classic Christmas Cheer line: "You'll shoot your eye out kid." (Yes I know it's non animated)

Classic, my cousin watches the nonstop marathon of "A Christmas Story" every year! :)
Charlie Brown was ahead of his time...
I never have liked most of those Christmas cartoon specials...except I do like The Grinch. I just love the way the Whos all join hands at the end and sing, without benefit of decorations or presents...
Oh, and Mr. Magoo does a version of The Christmas Carol that's worth watching if you get the chance.
Other than that...
Bah, Humbug!!
