Your poem suggests a healthy way of looking at the cycle of life & death without being preachy about it. I prefer a simple message like this where a person SHOWS one constructive way of considering life, rather than telling us how to do it. Your analogy is carried thru-out with vivid imagery & personification. My favorite line: "She sang the joy of having known the Life she’d been assigned" -- it's your own original way of saying "Let Go & Let God" . . . love the way you show acceptance can be fun, not dutiful or difficult.

The brevity of fragile life, the need for acceptance as we are floating in this world without knowing where it may take us before we land somewhere, and singing or enjoying and accepting life as it is and unique to each individual, may I wish something for that leaf in the poem if it is me, let that leaf fall in to a deep ocean by some fluke and travel a lot prior fully decayed, or become ever living as it became part of the ocean itself, loved the flow, footing to life and nature

Thank you, Linda! So glad you got where I was going with this!
They turn red and brown because they lose the chlorophyll - like we lose our life force - but we remain beautiful. Loving this analogy Rita. You have a long way to go before you need to sing

The beauty of the sound of nature is a wonder to behold - the choir wafts its notes across the landscape, some higher in the blustery winds, others flutter as an aria, and then the base tones boom when we have to rake them from the ground........LOL
Lovely, excellent flow in your tribute to the leaf!!

This is so lyrical and beautiful. Please thank Tate for directing my to your pages. This could also be an answer to a challenge issued by Realmwriter to the Poetry Challenge group: he challenged us to write about leaves.

Thank you so much! I wrote this last year, but the leaves are singing again...

The timbre may change, but don't they sing the song of Life year round?
Absolutely wonderful, Rita! First of all, the rhyming is superb. Second of all, the imagery is exquisite. Third of all, this is a life lesson. The leaf is personified....it knows its life is not long, but it will make the most of what it has while here. So gentle....just an absolutely fantastic poem. I remember reading it last year but it is worth reading over and over again. I don't do this often....you are getting a 100 rating for this one, Rita. Lydi**

This is beautiful. I must have commented on it before, especially since you posted it on my birthday. We all have reason to sing about life, though I'm afraid some of us sing dirges...

Thank you, Marie. Nature sings loudly enough, it drowns out those dismal songs! :)
