In GratitudeA Poem by Rita L. Sev.No poetry or intoned prayer Can ever quite express Our thankfulness to all who served In military dress We wave the flag and think of them On days we’ve set aside; We speak of valor past, and now; Our hearts are filled with pride To those who’ve sacrificed and stood In wartime and in peace ~ And generations after Who will serve ‘til all wars cease ~ Parades and graveside speeches Are paltry dispensation For the gratitude we owe © 2013 Rita L.
