![]() In GratitudeA Poem by Rita L. Sev![]() .![]() No poetry or intoned prayer Can ever quite express Our thankfulness to all who served In military dress We wave the flag and think of them On days we’ve set aside; We speak of valor past, and now; Our hearts are filled with pride To those who’ve sacrificed and stood In wartime and in peace ~ And generations after Who will serve ‘til all wars cease ~ Parades and graveside speeches Are paltry dispensation For the gratitude we owe © 2013 Rita L.
