Trick & Treat

Trick & Treat

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

"What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly." - Morticia Adams

"

Come into my gossamer digs

I’ll show you my décor

Relax and make yourself at home ~

So glad you found my door

I rarely get a visitor

So late on Halloween

Do pardon all those sticky threads;

I’ve not had time to clean

I see it in your widened eyes ~

You’d like this to be quick ~

My dear, however did you guess

You’d stumbled on a trick?

You are a luscious morsel,

So juicy and so sweet

You may have come for candy,

But you've now become my treat...

love it!... your witty humor is always so dang refreshing!... find myself uncontrollably giggling throughout because I know where I would go and then you go there and so effortlessly and brilliantly.. the font was a awesome addition and could hear this told over a campfire as a warning to little kids.. haha.. did I say I loved it?... oh yes!.. watch those tricks, else you become the treat... (evil laugh).... great job ma'am!

This is such a well written poem. It works very well and I would love to read it to my kids. I get the vision of a parent reading it to their children on Halloween. You always blow me away with your work.

No problem!(:
You have a writing style here Ms Rita that I couldn't quite figure yet . It's more than meets the eye . Your approach is simple and yet very clever . I like your first line of introduction " Come to my gossamer digs ". For me its a little deep . And you end your poem well with a classic story telling style .

;) Thanks, Angi! Just having some fun with Halloween themes...
First off, I love the font, I think I have it but I can't recall the name. The poem was stellar, the way you constructed that melody was instructive. As for the subject matter, it was quirky....the typical you who always humor me. Great one Rita

First of all the quote you used is one of my favorites - and second - I LOVE this poem. Spiderita who knew? Don't eat me please. I'm a fan.

Ha! Spiderita! Love that! Don't worry, Tam - you are safe! Thanks!
Delightful, Rita! Although I'm darn glad I wasn't the one who became her treat! You've done a great job with the rhythm and rhyme, as usual, and may your sense of humor never desert you.
