Spreading Fast

Spreading Fast

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

So silly ...

"

I don’t want to alarm you

but I’m feeling very ill

No, I do not have a fever,

a headache or a chill

There’s only one known symptom

and it’s with me all the time ~

Every sentence that I utter

comes out in metered rhyme

I went to see my doctor,

a capable clinician

But he said there was no cure

for this rare, bizarre condition

I fear that it’s contagious,

a pandemic international

based on observations

that are really very rational

You see, there is this poet

with whom I correspond ~

he has the same affliction,

and he’s way across the pond!

Thanks, Lobster! This one was in response to a friend here at WC who wrote about his own rhyming ill.. read more
I wouldn't complain if I were you! Especially since I haven't written a poem in what seems like ages... I honestly love this poem though. Very cleverly written. Good job :D

You're right, Rhea - I am glad to "suffer" from this affliction! Thanks!
Don't fight it, Rita. I'm sure people find conversing with you much livelier as a result. And it is painless.
I enjoyed the whole expertly written poem, especially the clinician/condition rhyme. Richard

Thanks, Rich! You are right, it is a painless affliction! :)
What a great poem. I love rhyme. There is nothing quite like a fine rhyme if you ask me. You did a great job on this Rita, brava!

I rhyme because it's fun - though I know it's not for everyone. Thanks, Blue!
Sounds like you know Dr Wood...
To me being silly is good.
You rhyme like you should.
Much like Dr. Wood.
I'd rhyme all my words if I could.

Very funny Rita. I had this disease for a time but overcame the need to rhyme. Never again will you see, same sounding words penned by me. I wouldn't say it is contagious, but bordering on the outragious. It's not a disease, but a curse. I'll spend my time writing free verse.

Poor Jack, in denial... ;) Thank you, my friend!
Perhaps it is a virus, it's sometimes hard to tell, but to me it seems like heaven, a place where poets dwell! :) Your poem made me smile this morning, Rita. Just delightful. Yes, Dr. Wood has infected us all! LOL Lydi**
