E Pluribus Unum

The time has come 

To stand as one ~

A nation crushed 

In a new day's sun 

We look to our fellows 

As never before 

Brothers and sisters 

In this new kind of war 

No longer wrapped up 

In differences trite 

We walk hand in hand 

To the call of "Unite" 

And though the struggle 

Is far from finished

This actually gave me chills Rita, and brought me right back to those days after that terrible tradgedy, everyone in a daze, not understanding what happened...we did pull together and 'let's roll's' was being repeated by everyone...well done.

you too...i just posted one from that same day...the day after...

very strong piece, Rita...really moved me...i remember my reaction...the day after i couldn't teach...i just had my students do a freewriting on their feelings about what happened...

i remember one student coming up and handing in her paper...asking me if i were alright!

i wasn't....most of us weren't..

but that pride, that toughness...kept us together through it all.

Those days right after were so strange, everyone asking everyone else how they were doing... A sad, surreal unity. The kids needed to ask a lot of questions, and it was so hard, because I had so few answers... Thank you, Jacob.
