Wow! Meter, theme, rhyme, tone, cadence, flow ... this poem has it all. It's more like a song than a poem. I wrote your poem in another way which also belongs to you:
This Poet's Dare
This poet dares to dream.
He gives his visions voice.
He sings of sighs and butterflies
that make the heart rejoice.
This poet dares to dream.
He tells his thoughts to soar.
At their command, words take a stand
upon a stormy shore.
This poet dares to dream
He lifts the wings of prayer.
He shares his soul, each lofty goal.
Long live this poet's dare.

Thank you, Aethereal - yes, each poet should take these sentiments to heart!

Perhaps you should write a Broadway Play Musical about a struggling poet.
Hi Rita. A beautiful write and message about our love to create and dream through our poetry. Skillfully crafted rhyming poetry which I enjoy. Good imagery, flow and tone. Line to line transition and breaks are well done. Very nice rhythm and enjambment. Rhyme is good as is the rhyme scheme. Every second/fourth line in each stanza is perfect masculine end line rhyme that is executed with precision in this piece. Lovely depth of feeling. You express the poets heart beautifully in this poem. Good word choice and use of repetition for emphasis. Excellent closing lines. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!
They tell their thoughts to soar
At their command words take a stand -- I like these lines a lot.
What a beautiful ode to poetry and those who can't help but write it. I love the way that you describe the "journey" of the art, especially the way that you touch on the idea of lofty goals and poets who dare to push the envelope. Clever write, and very beautiful!
