LOL, how well I understand. I, too, have been a blonde, a redhead, and a brunette...and there have been a couple of disasters...like the time me and a buddy from college decided to play "beauty shoppe" on each other...I shudder just remembering that episode!
What you see in my picture there is my own color...pure silver...and with my brood, I have earned every strand! I am actually proud of my silver-white mane!!
Thanks for the giggle!!

Thanks, Angel! My worst episode involved red dye and a crimping iron... *shudder*. :)
Haha! I remember also the crazy things I've done to my hair. For the first 6 months, I've got a hair relaxation. Then I got it permed/curled for my graduation ceremony. And then rebond to last for another 6 months.
That's how my hair look every 6 months...straight...curled....straight....curled. Haha! What I've got now is a thin crowning glory.
But going back to the poem, I really like the ending stanza. It's not really the hair we can see the glory of a woman...
Nice wordplay. Excellent, Rita!

We do get obsessed with our looks when what is inside is what counts.
Funny how no one is happy with their appearance... blondes want to be brunettes, brunettes want to be red heads... straight haired people want curly hair and vice versa. We are a fickle species.

In my youth and through about 40 years, I was blessed with fine-textured, naturally blond and thick head of hair, and I confess to being about vain about it. Lupus and time have made that only a memory. You are right; we have earned the right to ask for respect: we earned these gray hairs!
