LOL!!
Yeah...I have two grand daughters that live near me. All I hear about lately is school clothes, boys, band practice...and my daughter, counting the days.
You...Hun, you know you'll be fine. The kids will adore you...and I know you will make a huge difference in each of their lives. Nobody can know you and not love you!
I love this poem! I am going to shelve it in my library, and share it with my girls. I'm sure it will make them giggle...and maybe give a bit of a boost to their confidence, as well!

Lol! No, not at all! But, we are still sisters in Christ! :)
Yes you are the teacher, you are good at what you do, although children can bully the teacher, you are not one to be bullied. your work speaks for it self. All will be well.

Nicely done. And another experimental rhyme scheme for you. Carried off quite nicely.
A question I have been meaning to ask, do you share your poetry with your students? I can well imagine that you inspire them to write and to read.

Everything I assign for the to write, I have written (frustrates me when English teachers don't write...) We do poetry in April, and some students struggle with it. I let them assign pieces to me in exchange for trying their own... ;)
It really is coming fast, and even though we know it will, actually arriving at that date is pretty intimidating. I like this one for its sentiment and for the way you talk about the nervousness. The rhyme is a nice touch in this one I think, very appropriate for the start of a new school year. I hope your new year goes well for you and your students!

I remember having the feeling you describe during my early years of teaching. First days were a good bit more relaxing as the years went by. As one of your reviewers noted, most of the children are more nervous than you. (I recall one year when a boy threw up in the classroom the very first morning--I don't know if it was a reaction to his seeing me or not.) I especially liked "I've got my supplies and gut-butterflies." Fun to read, though not to experience.

OMG! I seriously hate the first day of school, I still have no idea where to go or who to see. I honestly hate, I hate school all together unless I have people to talk to, ha. Nicely written.
