First Day

I’m nervous

I’m scared

I’m quite unprepared

Tomorrow’s the first day of school

 

I’ve got my supplies

And gut-butterflies

I’m afraid that they’ll think

I’m not cool.

 

It happens each year

This September fear

Children are such 

fickle creatures

 

I’ve got to be calm

Face the day with aplomb

After all, 

I am the teacher…

thanks for the big smile on my little face :) children never think teachers are nervous now that i think of it ..they are way too wrapped up in "am i cool?" ;) glad i caught up with this one Rita .. i just know your school year is well under way and the kids love you!

what a great twist...usually the student is the scared one...but yes, we teachers get butterflies too...worrying about whether we will be doing a good job....

Thanks, Steve! The first day of school scared me in a totally different way as a kid. I KNEW I wasn't cool back then... Now I get nervous and excited each new school year. We are already off to a running start!

Ha, and do you think I was ever cool? ;) School scared me at every level, but that's a can of worms for another day haha I'd love to go back as the person I am now though...I can tell you really love your job, which makes me happy...not many people can say that :)

Well both of mine go back on Wednesday and they are at that stage were they can't wait , amazing! Both looking forward eager to see their teachers. In fact when they ask me about my experience at school I haven't found a way not to lie yet. Great feeling expressed here.
