Looking Glass

Looking Glass

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

The mirror on my wall

will not speak to me at all,

even when I pointedly inquire.

I ask if I am fair,

but the glass will simply stare;

how will I ever know if I’m admired?

Amen to that my friend...it's no coincidence to me that a mirror caused such a stir in Snow White...then again, I think that was the central premise of that story anyway, so everyone probably thought that haha But you've put your own unique spin on it with a mirror that doesn't answer...maybe there's a shred of optimism in that though, maybe the mirror wants you to take it into your own hands and not seek that approval...a thought-provoking little piece to be sure :)

I like your insight on this - that the mirror is silent for a reason... :) Thanks, K!

You're most welcome my friend :)
The mirror I had once spoke to me and told me am old and chubby...how come yours does not praise you or put you down? I need a mirror like that one. hahaha

hahahaha...I did so too after marie advised me to get another one. hahaha
We are who we are Rita. The mirror always stares back hard. You only need to look as far as your writing, the reviews and comments to know that you are certainly admired.

Nice piece.

I thank you sincerely, Marie!
Hi Rita. I love this write. You have a great sense of humor. Well crafted free style metered rhyming poetry which I enjoy. Clever word play and very good use of brevity. Good imagery, flow and tone. Rhyme is good as is the scheme. Near perfect masculine end line rhyme that is executed beautifully in this piece. Good depth of feeling. Good word choice; nice alliteration and consonance with good assonance. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!

I think as we get older, we realize that beauty fades, but wit, intelligence, kindness, what's in somone's heart, these are the kind of things that people most admire us for, and being able to blow unicorns & rainbows out your arse. ;-)
