Curiosity

Curiosity

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

That darn cat...

"

Curiosity must climb

to the summit of the trees

Curiosity will poke at

a nest that’s full of bees

Curiosity investigates

 the bottom of the well

Curiosity’s the reason

that proficiency excels

Curiosity’s been satisfied

fulfilling many drives

It’s a good thing he’s a cat,

and he has so many lives!

That was cute... I would have never thought of naming cat that, very clever.

I'm still thinking, ten is still too easy! hahaha ;-)
Love this Rita. Well crafted rhyming couplets. You paint a vivid picture of your precocious cat that any reader can appreciate. Good depth of feeling. Good word choice as is the use of repetition for emphasis of the cat's character. Good closing couplet. Well penned. Write on!

Yes, this is the incredible thing about cats - their curiosity pays off more often than not!

Some cats do need a few extra, don't they... :)
Great personification! I enjoyed this!

This was a lovely personification of "curiousity", which didn't "kill the cat" in this instance, just perhaps shortened his life a bit. Reminds me of the other day when my dog chased a cat beneath our porch...he wiggled in and then couldn't get out; the cat, of course, sauntered out with ease and then sat there as if to laugh while we had to dismantle the fence beside the porch to get the dog out. Great metaphor in this one...

Haha! Your poor dog! Cats know how to manipulate our trusting canine companions... Thank you, Sarah.. read more
A lovely use of language arranged simply and frugally describing my favorite animal, the cat. They are the critters who give us sympathy and purr for us when we are low. I dearly hope they have 9 lives. Well-written and well-received.

Thank you so much! Cats are impressive - they act so aloof, but then are so affectionate... :)
