Meter... Made

Some silly self indulgence... LOL!

I’m about to write a poem,

this may cause a little stress

for when I try to write in verse

I can become obsessed

 

I like to write in many forms:

ballad, limerick, ode ~

I need to tune distractions out

when I’m in writing mode

 

It’s hard to write in free verse,

I am not the best at prose;

I tend to stick to metered rhyme

as this set of stanzas shows

 

I have also tried acrostic

some sonnets and haiku

there are many different types

in my composition queue

 

I like to think in metaphor

and play with similes

alliteration’s amusing,

as authors all agree

 

So if you’ve read this so far

I’m happy that you’ve stayed

Yes, my name is Rita ~

and I am a meter maid  J

Ha groaning along with you!! Smiling, this was delightful, really...you had to go there eh? The meter maid, hahaha, good one! You are a pro at rhyming, I on the other hand suck, so I enjoy the a piece when it flows so perfectly and doesn't feel forced, that's a talent!

Hi Rita. A lovely write about your love for poetry in its many forms. Heartfelt. Flow is good; line to line transition and breaks are done well. Very nice rhythm and enjambment. Good rhyme and tone. Good depth of feeling; you express your love for rhyme, form and meter that I can relate to. I love form and enjoy writing it. Excellent closing verse. Well penned and an enjoyable read. Write on!
