Lion's Tooth

Lion's Tooth

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Here it is, Rich... I like yours better! :)

"

They say that you are just a weed

though many critters do you feed.

You start life with a fuzzy head;

the roaring mower you must dread.

Like wild flowers that bloom in spring,

you cover almost everything.

Gardeners aim to kill your blooms

with horrid vile toxic fumes.

When young I used to search for hours

for these weeds I thought were flowers.

Now my inner child cries

at every dandelion’s demise.

Hi Rita. A very good write about dandelion's. It brought back childhood memories. I can also remember hunting them to blow on them to make wishes when I was a little girl. Skillfully crafted free style rhyming poetry which I enjoy. Imagery is good as are the descriptives. You paint a vivid picture of this 'weed' and its demise that any reader can see in their mind's eye. Flow is good; line to line transition and breaks are done well. Nice rhythm. Rhyme is good as is the rhyme scheme. A nice mix of dactylic and masculine end line rhyme that is executed beautifully in this piece. Good depth of feeling. I can relate. Excellent closing lines. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!
