Lion's Tooth

Lion's Tooth

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Here it is, Rich... I like yours better! :)

"

They say that you are just a weed

though many critters do you feed.

You start life with a fuzzy head;

the roaring mower you must dread.

Like wild flowers that bloom in spring,

you cover almost everything.

Gardeners aim to kill your blooms

with horrid vile toxic fumes.

When young I used to search for hours

for these weeds I thought were flowers.

Now my inner child cries

at every dandelion’s demise.

The bright little chrysanthemum like flowers charm me by their magical beauty.
I didn't know that so many poets returned to their fabulous childhood days with the name and rhymes of dandelion.
Checked for the poem of Richom, but failed to get anything there.There is a note,"This writing has been deleted".Surely,I have missed a great treasure.
However,got a link that tells that the word ,"dandelion" came from French phrase, "dent de lion".

As children we used to blow their heads off......Dandelions grew abundantly in fields, when we were young.It was such a beautiful sight.

i think dandelions are like misunderstood people...when the mower of life cuts them down...we realize their value...among the weeds, something of beauty grows.

Dandelions and daisies...and roses. Weird, huh??
all hail dandy lions :) we did so many things with them when i was younger. blowing off their powdered heads; seeing who likes butter; making chains as long as we could; splitting their stems and curling them in water....worse than toxic fumes in their destruction... :{

another delightful poem; like walks in the park!
