Last Words

Last Words

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

What was the last thing you said aloud?

"

The last words you spoke aloud ~

did they lift another’s mood?

Or were they barbs and insults,

continuing a feud?

Did you tell a hurtful joke,

or make a rude remark?

Was the last phrase that you uttered

negative and dark?

Spoken words have power,

they can echo through the years.

What will your voice reverberate

in your last receiver’s ears?

Very good. We can all relate to this. "Spoken words have power/they can echo through the years." My favorite lines in the poem.

yes. totally agree. :))
An important message in this one and one we often don't give enough thought to. Especially if they truly end up being the "last words" you may ever be able to say to them.

Well done piece, Rita! :)

My Mom, your words hers true, But the voice, its timber, is it glass broken in their ears ? or Honey sweet suckle latched firm to a n****e that can listen ? Sometime they have to be primed to pump the cool clear mineral water of truth, Amen.

Amen, indeed. Thank you, Lee!
Beautiful poem, really. Resonates in the reader and makes them think profoundly, and that I strongly believe is the mark of great writing.
