Appointment Needed

Appointment Needed

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Thank you...

"

My accountant got annoyed with me

and acted quite the grump

when I handed her my taxes

as she stood at a gas pump

The nurse from Dr. Greenley’s

just left me in the lurch

when I asked for a referral

before services in church

My dentist didn’t like it,

and he made a rude remark,

when I showed him my bicuspid

as he picnicked in the park

Really irked my skilled mechanic

when, instead of at the station,

I pulled my clunker next to him

while he walked his old Dalmatian

I don’t know why they’re angry,

since they’ve done this to me before ~

expect a parent teacher conference

in the middle of a store...

Spot on. My mother is a teacher and many is the time she's been buttonholed in such a way.

Yes, it can drive a teacher crazy when all we want is a few groceries... :) Thanks, Beccy!
Ha, this was funny. Alot of my teachers live in my area so I bump into them alot but when I'm out I'll make sure if I see them that my Gran and I cross the street so I don't have to talk, haha. It's kinda awkward in a way. LOL. Thanks for the giggle.

:) Thanks, Mark!
People just don't like to be taken out of context.

Although it happened to me countless times, and I didn't really mind...

This is so true though! I think many of us are guilty as charged.

Thank you for the chuckle this morning, Rita. :)

OH SNAP! this is funny. I am an accountant - so you had me hooked right away. That last bit was such a great wrap up - lesson learned, right?

I wondered where you were going with it, i thought you were just very unreasonable, and then you turned it on its head. My mom as a primary school teacher had a lot of similar stories. A fun read. I did find the fourth stanza a little awkward, but i couldnt suggest to you a better way to put it, so ill just shut up. great poem.

Yes, there's a best time for everything. You expressed a common everyday annoyance. I was inspired to write the first verse in the present tense using seven syllable overlapped /0/0/0/ meter rhyme. You may have this as a gift since it has so much of your creativity in it. You must understand that I would never have written this without first reading your poem. This is an offspring of your poem:

Temper

My accountant's temper storms
as I act like an old grump
handing her my new tax forms
as she stands at her gas pump.

Thanks, Aethereal!
LOL, oh, this is priceless. But, what do you do when your the parent, and the teacher has run you to ground to complain bout your rotten kid?
Brilliantly written, Teacher, and a lesson for all us pesky parents. Teachers do have lives that do not include our priceless progeny. They do have concerns of their own that have nothing to do with training our little geniuses.
It's a little late for me...I'm a Grandma, now...but I'll try to spread the word!!

See, most of the teachers from my school live in the neighborhood, and I make a point to make my mom cross the street to avoid conversations like that. I never bring up school outside of it with my teachers, since I'm pretty friendly with most of them. Great poem, really exudes frustration in a very humorous way. Nicely done.
