Sorry, Youthful Heart

Sorry, Youthful Heart

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak...

"

My youthful heart

asked my middle-aged feet,

“What shall we do today?

Let’s go for a hike,

let’s shop the big mall,

let’s grab the dog and go play!”

My feet, ensconced

in their sturdy shoes

considered these lively suggestions;

then they propped themselves up

and went back to sleep,

effectively answering that question.

Haha! I like it! Thanks, EN!
haha! this is great. The wording and rhythm coordinate with the age you are speaking of too. The first stanza is playful, the latter more somber. Good work!

That is so true and relatable the condition of the youthful heart vs the tired body or the sense...Well done as always...:)

Lol....I'm on my feet all day at work so I can relate. I have my feet up right now even though I stayed home sick. Yes my heart is young but my feet are old as the hills... ;-)

How does that happen - the heart stays young, but the rest ages so fast... Thanks, Red!
Laughing here, I read this with my feet up! How did you know, and so agree with this, when did my tootsies get old? Always real and a grand chuckle Rita!
