Poeticus Interruptus

Poeticus Interruptus

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

I have long held the opinion that the amount of noise that anyone can bear undisturbed stands in inverse proportion to his mental capacity... - Arthur Schopenhauer

"

I’m writing a wonderful poem,

by publishers, sure to be sought

it’s deep, and fraught with great meaning ~

WOOF!

The dog interrupted my thought…

OK, so back to my poem ~

it’s bound to be high in its score

the flow of it will be just perfect, and ~

BANG!

There’s a knock at my door…

Where was I? Oh yes, my grand poem,

I can already hear critics singing;

I’ll tell you the title, you’ll love it ~

BRRRIINNG!

What now? My cell phone is ringing!

This poem will never get written!

A shame ~ it was to be great.

I don’t know what’s the problem ~

I just can’t concentrate!

Ha! I love the title! This is funny and sooo true. I can't count how many times I've tried to start something and this has happened. So many distractions but yet this poem turned out to be great. Thanks for giving me a giggle before bed. :)
(oh and don't worry about your Latin being rusty, the last class I took was two years ago and all I can remember is "mihi nomen est..")

Ha! Thanks so much, Riley! Glad to give a smile for you to take into your dreams!
Seriously...when I was deep into my first novel anything would interrupt my train of thought. I started wearing headphones to block the noise. Haha....

Haha! Yes, I'm sure THAT was never said on the altar!
good for the dog...

this is so funny and cleverly conceived...

when the ego gets too big...the value of the poetry gets too small.
