Musing

Musing

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. - Nathaniel Hawthorne

"

Hovering near is my Muse

On wings of words she flies

          but just as I approach,

          she escapes into the skies

My flimsy net of thin blue lines,

So close, I almost reach her

but then she flits away so fast,

          elusive, fragile creature

At times I must surrender to

My untamable resister

and hope to try another day

to catch one of her sisters

Ah, this is great. I love everything about it. It's an inspiration to me. It inspired me to write the following tiny gift poem for you which you may keep as your own. It only took me a minute to write:

Muse

Please Muse, please come here
on each wispy wing.
Please Muse, please come near
to my ear and sing.

Indeed they are :) Thanks, Serenus!
Well penned, well constructed, and well said. You nailed the writer's struggle so well. I love the line "untamable resister".

Brava!

Hopefully her sister isn't as elusive, I find it peculiar that whenever anyone has a case of writer's block they write a piece about it, and it turns out grand, that's got to be the secret right there, good one Rita.

Thank you, Frieda
i like this Rita....because one of the best things to do when in a writing slump is to write about the writers block...and you really are innovative with this poem about that block.

My muse took the day off... guess I wore her out yesterday! Anyway..you capture that elusive relationship between muse and writer well. I'm waiting patiently for mine to return.... hopefully.. lol.
