A message for the Class of 2013

Go to the window

of your comfort zone

 

and leap

onto the magic carpet that awaits

 

Command  it

to take you

to soaring heights

and sights unseen

Eyes open ~

          don’t miss a thing ~

          the ride will be over

                   in a camera flash

 

The real magic

          is not the transportation,

but your transformation

Yes, it was bittersweet for them, I think. They have been together as a class since Kindergarten, and now many will be going separate ways. They are eager to leave, but crave the comforts of the familiar. Thanks for reading, Tate!

Rita! i used to dream this fantasy all the time when i was a young boy. it felt so real i swore i was actually leaving my home every night and going on these marvelous adventures. then i read about astral projection and out of body experiences....i am a bit psychic, you know, but it revolves around the dead, not the living. this is a wonderful memory and a delightful poem !

Graduation does entail a range of feelings - namely pride and relief! This was a particularly nice group; I am sad to see them leave us, but so excited for their futures.

I think some of them enjoyed my classes (the writers, in particular...) and all knew that I respected them and cared about them. :)
