Magic Carpet

A message for the Class of 2013

Go to the window

of your comfort zone

 

and leap

onto the magic carpet that awaits

 

Command  it

to take you

to soaring heights

and sights unseen

Eyes open ~

          don’t miss a thing ~

          the ride will be over

                   in a camera flash

 

The real magic

          is not the transportation,

but your transformation

Here you have an innovative poetic structure, rhyme, and a wise message all in one. I loved how the brought the following five words together within a rhyming serenade:

: ... soaring heights and sights unseen ... "

Because of the large number of "ine" words that rhyme with unseen this line could be the beginning of another beautiful poem, but you must be the one who writes it since you now own this immortal line. I wish it was mine, all mine, but that's life. That line get me thinking about eagles: You may keep this inspired gift poem as your own.

Eagles

Soaring heights above serene
mountains edged with shades of green,
eagles breach each deep ravine
over grandeurs seldom seen.
