The Heart That Remains

The Heart That Remains

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

How can it be goodbye...

"

When one leaves

and one stays behind

if one heart remains,

is it really goodbye?

Spinning around

this revolving door,

forgotten by souls

who have been here before;

grasping at shadows,

straining at sighs ~

if my heart remains,

is it really goodbye?

So true, so true. How can it be over when one or even both still have their heart invested in the love and the relationship? I never thought of it that way.

Thank you, OBWH! This was a bittersweet notion for me...
This was a happy piece in my opinion. Made me smile again Rita. Is it ever really goodbye? I think not.

I'm glad you liked it; thank you, Freda.
Obviously, this came from your very brilliant muse. I guess it's half goodbye, because the heart/mind is a part of you (and a very significant part as well) that cannot be ignored. An attachment has been forged- though immaterial, very strong and substantial- and displacement from that actual location/person may lessen that bond but not completely destroy it.

You can never go wrong with ending a piece of writing with an open ended question! I really like this. You're not only speaking to the reader but you are speaking to yourself as well and I think that is what is really brilliant about this piece of writing. It is really open to interpretation and I love that. Great work Rita...as usual! :)

Doesn't matter where it came from. Gave me that happy feeling you get after hearing something good. Thanks for that. Happy you found it and shared the post.
