I believe that if we carry joy, and seek joy, that is what we will find. Conversely, misery seeks misery. I have seen some writers here that seem bent on finding harm, and have left the site spewing venom. I have come seeking kindred spirits, and that is just what I have found.

I may not entirely agree with the author's note,
I do however like the piece and the sentiment of it. I agree most who seek misery shall surely find it without question. but I think also we live in a time and world when it is far to easy for misery to find a way to shadow anyone's door step. On the same page misery is a necessary evil in understanding and appreciating joy. Damn my duality as always. Great piece Rita, I still stand by not a fan of haiku and senryu poetry. I respect it, but find it most often lacking heft. Good write and good read thanks Rita.
Sincerely
Christopher

I fear that my author's note was misconstrued by some, but those were my feelings at the time. Haiku and senryu are starting to grow on me, and are a good challenge. :) You are right that sometimes misery finds us, but I try to keep that door closed...

I feel you on the challenge part, lately reviewing and writing at all have been a challenge. On the note aspect, merely voicing an opinion on the thoughts. I of course had no intent to offend. Hope you're well and the writing keeps flowing.

There's wisdom in this. We must think of life as being the floor beneath an apple tree. All around are fallen apples. Some apples are rotten, some are sour, but a few are beautiful and delicious. We find those apples that we expect to find. A rotten mentality finds rotten apples, a sour mentality finds sour apples, a sweet mentality finds sweet apples.
Preach, Rita, Preach! This is certainly one of your more powerful pieces, Rita. It breathes like a living being, and the way you've formatted it makes it even more creaturely. The sentiment is one i certainly agree with, and I love how you've executed this. Nicely done!
