A parallel

A few evening brews

might make us do

some  things that might seem wise

 

But then at dawn

the coffee’s on

and we open up our eyes

I loved this one, really. It's clever, it's cute, but it's also a little sneaky. I like how "open up our eyes" can be taken literally in its association with waking up but still maintain a more figurative closing for the poem itself.

I think that this is a very insightful parallel. I have have seen this happen a number of times in college. I like the suggestion that you make in the second stanza with the line "and we open our eyes." It bears the suggestion that the lovers are not just waking up, they are truly becoming aware of their deeds. I like yours style.
