Wedding Gown

Wedding Gown

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Worn only once

"

Cream and lace formed lovingly

by deft maternal fingers

And even after all these years

The memory still lingers

Preserved it is, inside a box;

Occasionally I peek

When that day seems far away

And its nostalgia I seek

That gown I’ll never wear again

A young bride’s homespun glory

Carries in its fabric

My very own love story.

My mother made my wedding gown - from veil to shoe covering. It's a shame that I can't wear it every day... Yes, that's an actual wedding pic, over 21 years ago.

yes, all that young brides go through for a wedding gown..and then to only get to wear it once...how sad...

i thought of an old Outsiders' song..."girl in love"

really nice piece.

Thanks, Jacob! Great song, glad that this piece brought it to mind.
