A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Mangia!

"

How to make pasta e fagioli,

Or in the way of this East Coast fool:

Let’s grab a pot and start cookin’

Some awesome pasta fazool!

First, take cloves of garlic

Palm flat, give ‘em a crush

In olive oil, a slow sauté;

With garlic, never rush

Now add a cup of gravy ~

Yeah, that’s what I said;

AKA marinara,

Rich, tomato red

Coupla cans of tomatoes

Can be crushed or diced

The broth is coming together,

Add some parsley chopped up nice

Simmer away for just a bit,

It’s time to put in beans

Cannellini are what you want

Add plenty, by all means

You’ll need to choose a pasta,

Boiled in a separate pot;

Ditalini will work well,

Linguini will definitely not

Cut a loaf of crusty bread

Dip the Pope’s nose to test

It’s coming together nicely,

I’m sure you know the rest

Combine the pasta and the broth

Pour Chianti (NOT Chardonnay)

Now fill your bowl and grab a spoon ~

Enjoy!  Mangiare bene!

Thank you, Angi!
As soon as I finished this, I needed a snack.

The addition of what you shouldn't do during the process added an extra Italian feeling to it, at least for me. It's a fun poem, but I think now that you've poked the food-bear, everybody's going to want to know this recipe completed with measurements.

Go grab a pot! :) Thanks, glad to give a smile!
You know I saw food and was so there, but GRAVY...ha, I know you're not Italiano, you just like to eat like one! This put a big smile on my face, and now I want some, sounds yummy...dip in the Pope's nose, if you win the fight, everyone battles over the end! Ha, very entertaining read, as always from you pen Rita. Much enjoyed and now I have to go see if I have any Ditalini!
