A Woman's Soul

A Woman's Soul

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

What makes a Saint?

"

A woman’s divinity

        wrapped only in virginity

The mere idea that she is soiled,

all her virtue is somehow spoiled

To be considered a worthy saint

        the main attraction, her restraint

Forever must she be pure and whole

before we revere the woman’s soul?

if a man goes around deflowering every maiden he can he is known to his friends as a "mac daddy" a "player" a real man. if a woman goes around enjoying sex with every man she wants she has to suffer the indignities of "s**t" or "tramp" or "loose woman". it is wrong. the world has grown up a little in the last twenty or so years and we are more tolerant, but this poem exemplifies labels and ignorance.....we still have far to go. well penned, Rita
