Very well said. Thank you, Rita, for this reminder. It's easy to get caught up in worrying over what others think and forget what we think about our own work.
To thine own heart be true. Our words will touch someone...from our heart to theirs.
You never cease to amaze me, Rita. Your works are always brilliant, spot-on, and somehow always reflect what I'm thinking in that very moment in time in which I read it. I just got into a debate with my English teacher today over whether not a writer is who they write, and whether their subject matter is who they are. And those last few lines just about sum it all up:
"
Just pour out your thoughts
your rhymes
your prose
It’s how a writer lives"
Excellent work, Rita!

Great minds must think alike. :) Go easy on your English teacher - the job requires the teaching of rules and structure. However, when it comes to writing in my classes, I say, just write - get your thoughts down - tweak and edit later, if necessary.

His degree is in creative writing, so we go back and forth on the subject quite a bit. He's a great guy, and to my ire, he usually wins our debates.

Perfect write Rita. It is just what we all needed. To be reminded of why we write......it frees our mind and nourishes the soul. All the technicalities really doesn't matter. If it feels good then it's good.
I love this, it's exactly how I feel when I write, if I had to worry about all that other 'stuff' nothing would ever flow from my pen...poetry is what's in our hearts and soul, we give life to each piece, worrying about all the rules is like giving birth while unconscious and we know that's nearly impossible! Kudos Rita!
I love the message in your words, i think too many people worry to much about technique and the structure of their words, rather than the meaning expressed behind. Writing is a an act of expression and creation, and words written from the heart will find a home within others no matter their structure or form
