My Friends

My Friends

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

How did I get so popular?

"

On Facebook and on Google

I have so many friends

On Pintrest, Linked in,

Tumblr and Vox; the list just never ends

I love to talk to all my buds;

Well, text or PM or Tweet

I relish the chat rooms and forums

Where a group of us can meet

And yet I wish quite wistfully

Though it’s to no avail

For real encounters, face to face,

No IMs, blogs or emails.

Yes, I surely realize

This approach is too conventional;

Still, I really liked it when

My friends were three dimensional.

:) Thanks for reading!
I'm with you on this one Rita. Communication of today has totally changed the concept of the heart to heart talk. People can hide many things and never have to face you. Great thought in your poem.

Thanks, Robin! Appreciate your review!
I am not a big fan of social networks. They have there place, but nothing beats a good face to face chat! Very clever and current!

Thank you, Pax
Not a silly thought at all. Well written poem about how we carry on our relationships with others electronically, while longing for flesh and blood. I have wished many times just to have that chance to sit down, face to face and one on one with my electronic friends, over a cup of coffee (or glass of whisky) and just talk.

Yeah, I almost said Merlot too, but then changed my mind and wanted whisky instead, lol.
I like this poem, because honestly that's how it's getting to be for people nowadays. And what's worst about it, is that this is getting to a point where some people are unable to speak to others face-to-face, because they are so used to talking through social media. People are losing the ability to read and use nonverbal communication, which is the most important part of communication.

Amen. It's not so silly; not in my opinion, at least. It's great to make friends on the internet, but meeting them in person is necessary before you really know them.

Very playful! I smile along the lines! and the last line, I couldn't agree more. Friends are definitely better in 3D! hahaha!

Very true statements my dear :)
Technology has made us so lazy. It is just so much easier to talk online.
See.. I can write you and 7 other people while eating dinner at the same time =P
