Not silly at all Rita. But I think that the next generation of Virtual Reality might help satisfy the urge for 3D chums online ;)
This is a a fine piece on the steady dehumanisation of communication in our 'brave new world'.

"Dehumanisation of communication" - perfectly said, Anto! Thank you!
I'm sure that I would be able to relate if I haunted any site other than this one but social media doesn't know my name or what I'm having for lunch. Your friend in words, Pete
I don't think it's a silly thought at all, Rita. The internet has given birth to the one-dimensional character; no matter how hard we try, we are never really sure if we truly know the web bud. There are countless trolls out there pretending to be celebrities or good people, pretending to have a terminal disease so click "Like" or "Share" so they will get well. My husband is particularly repulsed by the religious ones -- they post some picture or tale and demand that you post to 10 of your friends or "God will get you" basically. It's like chain letters, just as stupid and quite insulting to honest people of faith. That flat one-dimensional persona can hide a lot.

Ha ha. I agree with you. We have so many "friends" in this depersonalized world don't we? Technology has run amok!

Smiling here because I agree with you 100%! Sure, it is nice to have a lot of friends on line, but the ones you can sit down and have a cup of coffee with...face to face...are still the ones I treasure most. Nice rhyming and rhythm and the humor is adorable. Lydi**

I know what you mean. Virtual hugs are just not the same thing!
Still, it is cool being able to get to know each other mind to mind...I think, in a way, we know each other better this way...

Not so much a silly thought as more a very pertinent one! So many friends but how many do we ever get to meet in person ? And do we really know them all that well??
A witty one but thought provoking at the same time, jolly good show Rita !
