Death Watch

Death Watch

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Time to say goodbye

"
I believe a formidable relative
Is about to leave us, oh dear!
I suppose that I should reflect on
The time she's been with us here.

I didn't always know her,
I met her as a young teen.
Whenever she'd come for a visit,
Boy, did she make a scene!

She really caused a headache
And made a nasty mess
No matter how things were going,
She'd add her own brand of stress

I don't think anyone liked her
Our lives were not enriched
In fact, when I knew she was coming,
I'd warn, "Here comes that b***h."

We really will not miss her
When it's her time to go
My parting words may seem cruel -
"Good riddance, Old Aunt Flo!"

Author's Note

Rita L. Sev
A middle-aged musing - sure I shocked some with the "mature" rating!

*I re-thought the rating. I probably could read this in my classroom - if I change "bitch" to "witch" and tell the boys to leave the room! :)

Lol! I can't wait for the old gal to get out of town for good... :)
Lol...well this is second Aunt Flo poem I've read today. I'm thinking she will be leaving my house in the next four or five years. Right now she's wearing my nerves thin...completely erratic and dysfunctional. Sigh....can we throw her a going away party?? Ha...

Lol! Thanks, Pryde!
Oh, I so have people I know that I have felt this way about. There is an old saying about never speaking ill of the dead; but if the dead were cruel in life is it not more harsh to speak good of them.

This is definitely not the way I choose to be remembered, makes you consider how you act in life towards others.

Interesting read, love it.
