No Place Like Home

No Place Like Home

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Dorothy was right

"
There's a hole in my dining room ceiling
A leak in the faucet upstairs
When I look around with honest eyes,
Every room in my house needs repairs

The paint is chipped
The lawn's a mess
The carpet's torn a bit
But, you know what?
It's still my home;
Yep, there's no place like it.

I relate to your poem, I never see anything wrong with my house when I am in it, except when there are visitors I start to notice things they might look at, that is why I never criticize anybody else's house, and I try to compliment them in their family unity.

So true - when someone comes in, I see all the flaws... Thanks, SquinklaPsyOps.
Your home sounds like mine...except that I don't have an upstairs.
I live in a shabby little house in a rundown neighborhood, but I woulnd't live anywhere else. Home is home.

We have lived here for 22 years, close to where I grew up, in a similar "row house" - not much space.. read more
I love that attitude… home is not a place but a state of the heart, and where ever it receives capital love is where it should be.

And...?
Ha.
I could take this in infinite tangents Rita.
I like how you left the door to this read wide open. Like an invitation to an open house party.

Thanks, David! When the repairs are finished, I'll send out those invites... :)
The security of a safe place ad the memories stored up there are more priceless than any mansion on the hill. This is perfect.
