McWorld

McWorld

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Where we may be heading

"
Walking through the McWorld today
I started to McWonder
How long before the McSkies are filled
With patented McThunder

Quite soon the McSun will be shining down
On McFields of bland McFlowers
And we'll be measuring McTime in
Corporate-approved McHours

The McRocks of McEarth will be uniform chunks
Of carefully portioned McGranite
And we'll all be blissfully happy
On our tasteless little McPlanet

I loved this. Not only is it very clever and expertly written, but is sadly all too accurate. I can remember walking down city streets passing one small shop after another. The variety of stores and the friendly, personal service provided by small shopkeepers has been swamped by today's cookie-cutter megastores.
But there's no going back. Regards, McRichard

Now that's funny....
Rita this poem is insightful, cryptically funny, and just plain truthful. We are lost in the quagmire of a corporate world of influence and greed. Sadly we may not be able to see our way out of it for generations. Wonderful poem!

Thank you, Pryde - Ha, Starbucks will be next...
A whimsical and well structured gem. Sky, flowers, time and earth refashioned into a sterile package. Second thought about the tone--it's whimsical up to the last line then a cynical little twist.

Pretty much my MO - silly, but with a bite. Thanks, John.
Looks like another Rita-style success!! I love your humor...you can take the most mundane situation, and make me smile.
Fantastic piece, my Little Bird!

Thank you, Angel - I love to give smiles!
Very timely thoughts in this Rita....our world has become so commercialized. Makes me think of Charlie Brown in the Christmas Special lamenting about Snoopy's over decorated dog house and the aluminum Christmas trees. Sad...
